Course OverviewImmediate start for this course!
Our courses start throughout the year so why wait!
Prepare yourself for an apprenticeship with our Level 1 study programme. This qualification will introduce you to the practical skills needed across the hairdressing industry, and will provide a foundation for future learning. You will be performing hair services as well as assisting others in the salon.
The London Hairdressing Apprenticeship Academy (LHAA) is a dynamic and innovative vocational training organisation that specialises in high quality hairdressing and barbering training at one of our state of the art hairdressing academies in Borehamwood, Camden, Chiswick, Croydon and Loughton.
The training I have received at the LHAA was excellent - within 6 months my hairdressing skills were really good. My Salon Owner was so impressed that he allowed me to work on clients doing blow-dries, preparing for colour and I have even done the hair for a wedding party.Robyn, Borehamwood
This is a part-time course that will be taught using a mix of academy and home learning. It will include practical hairdressing units, employability skills, a short work placement, industry enrichment and Level 1 maths and English.

Once you have completed the programme you will be able to progress onto our beauty, hair or barbering apprenticeship programme, where you will be working full time in a salon or spa, and attending our academy one day a week – earning as you learn.
This course is open to anyone aged 16-19 who is interested in the hair and beauty industry. There are no minimum grades or previous experience required.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through a mix of practical work, and traditional theory tests.
