Why should you work in the Hairdressing industry?

Hairdressing is a thrilling and exciting career with the opportunity to work hard and move higher up within a salon. One of the great things about hairdressing is the clients and customers that you deal with. You are able to make a big difference in how people look and feel about themselves. Whilst at work you will also be talking with them about their holidays, family and other topics. It is a great environment to work in if you enjoy interacting with people on a daily basis.

Once a fully qualified hairdresser, you likely join a salon as a junior hair stylist dependent on your experience. You will be able to work your way up and progress during your time at a salon. Many learners have the aim of owning their own hair salon and some head down the self-employment route. One thing that's for certain is the diversity of hairdressing. Aside from cutting hair, there are many different tasks that hairdressers do. Throughout the day you may be welcoming people into the salon, fetching them drinks and booking appointments. It makes a nice change and will help you develop interpersonal and admin based skills.

Job security is another great thing with Hairdressing - With population always growing there will always be a demand for people to get haircuts. Within most salons, they will always be looking for excellent talent to help their salon grow. In addition to security, hairdressing is also universal - You are not tied down to one country and can even fund travelling holidays through part-time hairdressing work abroad.

We have dedicated careers advisors who will happily talk you through what you can expect after finishing your course - Head on over to the contact us page to get in touch. We also have a network of salons in London who will notify us if they are looking to expand and grow their team.

What are the range of Training Courses that we offer?

Whilst most of our courses are aimed at apprentices we also offer a range of courses aimed at adult learners - With these courses, there are a range of start dates and also the ability to work around any current financial or family commitments that you already have. Below are some of the main courses that we offer. If you have any questions or would like to discuss availability please speak with a member of the LHAA team.

Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing

The level 2 Diploma in hairdressing provides learners with the training all the main tasks that a fully trained hair stylist would be responsible for. Some of the main things that will be covered are client and customer contact - this may involve the booking of appointments and also the advising on different hairstyles to suit the customers look and style. In addition to this, there will be the practical side of things such as; shampooing and overall treatment of the hair and scalp. Learners will also learn how to style and finish off hair for clients.

Level 3 Diploma in hairdressing

The level 3 diploma is somewhat similar to level 2 however goes into more detail and aims at improving on the learners hairdressing skills - In the level 3 diploma learners will learn how to not only cut and style hair but will learn creative hairdressing design skills. In addition to this learners will be asked to create haircuts based on a specific theme and style. This is there to replicate working life in a salon.

With both of these courses, learners are able to have these as one day, evening or a week over a 12 month period. If you have any specific requirements regarding timings then please speak with a member of the LHAA team.

What do our learners have to say?

We have worked with hundreds of learners and one of the main things that inspire us is providing a course and service that helps learners reach their potential and start their career in the hairdressing industry.

You can check out one of the most recent reviews from our learners Nicole, below.

I always wanted to be a hairdresser and the LHAA found me a solon placement which is brilliant, I am so pleased to be at the LHAA!”

Who are we and where are we located?

LHAA stands for London Hairdressing Apprenticeship Academy. We are located in London and have a range of academies across the capital. We have Hairdressing Academies in Borehamwood, Camden, Loughton, Chiswick and Croydon. All of our academies have state of the art equipment and replicate that of the style of leading London Salons. We also have great training rooms so that learners can practice practical skills but also learn the theoretical reasons behind haircutting.

You can head on over to the different landing pages for each academy to browse some pictures of them. One thing that learners should think about when choosing their hairdressing college is how close is the academy to their home. Ensuring that the commute to and from lessons is quick and easy is vital to keep motivation and determination at a high for the entirety of the hairdressing course.

Please get in touch with a member of the LHAA team if you would like to find out a bit more about the courses we offer. We are able to give you guidance on the courses and make sure that it is the sort of thing you are looking for.

We look forward to helping you kick start your career in the industry.
