The LHAA Peabody Hair Project

The LHAA at Camden were delighted to host 'The Hair Project' for residents of the Peabody Trust to provide them with the opportunity to showcase their creative skills in hairdressing. The four day project focused on creating glamorous red carpet looks in hairdressing and every student created a mood board to develop ideas for their final red carpet hairstyles. The final day involved a photoshoot of the finished looks with awards presented to the top three winning hairstyles. Eighteen students took part in the Hair Project with three Hairdressing Tutors from the LHAA, Leanne, Laura and Jackie.

The event was an astounding success in terms of the participants enthusiasm for the tasks set and the very high standard of hairdressing styles they produced.
This has been a great opportunity for young people to try hairdressing and to showcase their creative skills. It gives them an insight into hairdressing and enables them to make a more informed choice about whether this is a suitable career for them.

The LHAA only opened 12 months ago in Camden and we already feel part of the local community. This event shows that the community has taken us to its heart as well. We look forward to offering more young people the opportunity to explore the creative world of hairdressing.

LHAA Camden Academy Manager Leanne said, 'This has been a most inspirational event for the participants in this event and also for the Tutors. We were so impressed with the skills and creativity of some of these young people who have attempted hairdressing for the first time. They were all so enthused by the tasks set and I hope we can repeat the Hair Project again'.

Janine Francois, The Peabody Trust Project Manager said, 'Just to say from our end how impressed myself, adult staff and the young people have been with our tutors Jackie, Leanne and Laura for their hospitality, teaching, enthusiasm and how inspiring they have been for and to the young people. They truly are a credit to LHAA and represent the company to the upmost degree – they are excellent role models'.
